Summary, etc China has 160 million adults aged 60 and over, accounting for 12% of the total population, and the size of this population will further increase to 430 million by 2050. Following 30 years of rapid socioeconomic development and improvements in education and healthcare, the role of older adults in China is experiencing a fundamental transition, and social policies must support older adults' greater engagement in economic and social development. Using the latest data, this paper analyzes the characteristics of population ageing in China, the changing characteristics of the older adult population, policy and practice addressing older adults' opportunities for employment, volunteering, caregiving, and pursuing a lifelong education.
