《晚學盲言》共三部分，分別為「宇宙天地自然之部」、「政治社會人文之部」、「德性行為修養之部」。

九十篇專題雖篇各一義，卻相貫相承。每篇都是兩個命題的對舉，如整體與部分、抽象與具體、常與變、道與器、權與能、禮與法、雅與俗等等，均博而返約，致廣大而盡精微，可謂是作者晚年對中國文化核心要義與中西文化異同的一次總結性的蓋棺論定。
