This paper considers the issue of ex-offenders who can be identified as having an addiction to gambling; one that has been long-neglected in Hong Kong. It reports on a study in which 378 ex-offenders were asked to assess their gambling involvement. The paper identifies the importance of social workers developing a better understanding of this issue in their work with ex-offenders and the findings suggest there is further scope for research and analysis about the extent of this problem and its management.

對染上賭癮的更生人士進行研究是一個一直在香港被忽視的課題。此文章報告的是通過對378名更生人士的賭博情況進行的研究。研究發現社會工作者對此課題加強認識對他們在服務更生人士時是非常重要的；另外，研究結果也建議可以更進一步擴充此研究課題，以及分析這問題的嚴重性及管理的方法。
