This paper is an empirical study of urban older adult caregivers in Jinan. Based on an intergenerational perspective, the authors use surveys and interviews to analyze whom older adults care for, what kinds of care they provide, and their experiences and challenges as caregivers. The results shed light on these questions and provide insight into intergenerational relationships in Chinese families. Based on the social support theory, the authors provide suggestions to improve conditions for older caregivers.
