The specific targets of intervention were local policies related to the location of public housing in inner-city communities. The task force approach was shown to be a useful tool in providing students with hands-on experience in influencing policy in the local community. The paper presents a model for the application of the task force approach to involving students in influencing local policy. The challenges associated with this approach are outlined, along with suggested teaching and classroom management strategies.
