Participatory Education as a Community Practice Method A Case Example from a Comprehensive Head Start Program / [electronic resource] : Paul Castelloe MSW, PhD &Thomas Watson MSW. - pp. 71-89.

This paper provides an introduction to participatory education as a method for developing and implementing community practice interventions. The goal of participatory education is to help groups of people learn to use reflections on their everyday experiences to analyze the social-political context in which they live, and to develop a sense that they can work effectively to change that context. This paper discusses some relations between participatory education and community practice; reviews the literature on the theory and practice of participatory education; and presents a case example of the WAGES Project, a participatory education project in a comprehensive Head Start program.
